Abrus precatorius has small pretty purple flowers located at the end of the stalks. Fruits are short, inflated pods, splitting open when mature to reveal the round; hard and shiny seeds which are scarlet, but black at the base. Seeds contain abrin, one of the most toxic plant poisons known.

Acnistus arborescens is characterized as a shrubby, rapid growth tree that can attain ten or more feet in height.

Small flowers are followed by little orange tomato-like fruits.

All Aconitum plants contain poisonous alkaloids that can, in sufficient quantity, be deadly. Man has used Aconitum as a medicine and poison for thousands of years. Outside Europe it was widely used for its medical properties.

The Agapanthus is a genus of between six and ten species of herbaceous, perennial plants. Members of this genus have funnel-shaped flowers, which show diverse bluish colors. They occur in many-flowered cymes on long, erect stems, which can grow up 1 m long. The basal leaves are curved, lanceolate, and are up to 60 cm long.

As a long-blooming, summer annual, this plant keeps a nice mounded shape throughout its bloom period. It is covered with clusters of small flowers. It comes in blue, pink, and white blooms. It generally grows about a foot high, though some dwarf varieties are available. Mass blue Ageratum is beautiful in beds with yellow marigolds for complementary colors, or with pink begonias to create a soft pastel carpet. Ageratum is very easy to grow in a sunny location.
